Description

A wee POD whereby the Reign of Terror doesn't really occur and the new French Republic allow Spain to evacuate any loyalists on the condition they be shipped to the new world. Whilst many end up settling in the US many more remain in what is Louisiana OTL. This forms the basis for a larger Spanish settlement later on and history extrapolates from there. Napoleon still comes to power, but does a lot more to cause general anarchy across the continent than actually consolidate a good French Empire before being assassinated by a Belgian nationalist in 1801. Spain never gets invaded, and holds onto it's empire for a while longer.
More history happens, the US falters a lot more than OTL due to a lack of national direction and overcrowding on the East Coast before something of a quiet coup reshuffles their cards as the Union of Columbia, a few strong men, one after the other manage to keep the nation relatively regionalist and underindustrialised in places it would be booming OTL as men more interested in their own position forget about the common man whilst New Spain keeps in one very large piece. A sign of things to come.
Britain still becomes the ascendant world superpower it is OTL, especially while the continent remains divided and in places backwards due to less nationalist sentiment and mass industrialising to combat a France that is far more incompetent, they swallow most of South Asia and open up Japan, of whom they then modernise as a sort of springboard to reinforce their position in that part of the world. Meanwhile Spain and the New World at large break off to form their own independent nations after an autocratic and ludicrous King comes to power in Madrid more interested in plundering New World treasuries. Thus giving birth to what will become one of the most powerful nations on Earth, the Mexican Empire.
Japan and Britain, unified in this honour bound concept of dominating the rest of the world invade both ways from either side of Eurasia in a generalist war to conquer just about everything in their way. This of course fails eventually after they piss off a quietly industrialising Russia and incredibly fighty Mexico who roll over their prior conquests and invade Japan and Britain proper. But the war is terrible and destabilises most of the world, though leaves Russia -later Eurasia- and Mexico as the indisputable world powers and this funky situation comes to be.

Obviously, I'm not very good at these descriptions.

Oh, and climate change becomes a predominating force rather a lot earlier than OTL due to an earlier industrialisation of the New World, South and South-East Asia and Africa running rampant. Woops, forgot to mention.

Tada.

Do the French still use the French Revolutionary Calendar? What about the Hindoo Combine?
